Rebecca Salazar

What music have you been listening to lately?

The new Aldous Harding album & old Timber Timbre EPs.

What’s in your fridge right now?

Almond milk, cold brew, swiss chard, maple syrup, prescription meds, and several hot sauces.

Who is the last character you related to and why?

The cheesiest answer: Luisa Madrigal in Encanto. Cheers to my all fellow butchy queer Colombian daughters who are terrified of weakness & failing others, who also just need to learn to chill.

Best photo you’ve taken?

Dog wearing doggles, downtown Fredericton, Wolastoq territory.

Best outfit you’ve ever worn? Where and why?

Vintage leather I wore to a drag show in Kjipuktuk with friends in 2018. Also maybe the only outfit I've immortalized in writing, in a poem about dissociating heavily at said drag show.

What was your first rejection?

From a small west coast press, for a mystery novel I wrote and submitted at 13. I still have the rejection letter somewhere.

Latest book you’ve read or favourite book ever?

Latest: The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones. Favourite ever: Her Body and Other Parties by Carmen Maria Machado & Infinite Citizen of the Shaking Tent by Liz Howard.
